This Alfred Meakin Charlotte pitcher is one of those pieces that looks equally at home on a farmhouse table, a maximalist sideboard, or a florist's shelf with stems tucked into it. The Charlotte pattern — a full floral basket composition rendered in warm sepia brown against white — was engraved from original drawings by J. Cutts, designer, circa 1830, and later reproduced by Alfred Meakin of Staffordshire. Nearly two centuries of good taste behind a single pattern.
The form is clean and architectural — a squared body with a graceful spout and a decorative handle with lattice detail at the top. The transferwork is sharp and well-preserved, the cream ground crisp.
