Antique Victorian Figural Cherub Epergnes

$90.00

This pair of late 19th-century single-trumpet epergnes is built for exactly this kind of display, a mantel or sideboard where their sculptural silhouette can really be appreciated. Each is anchored by a winged cherub cast in brass or bronze, seated among climbing grapevines, and mounted securely on a solid rectangular white marble block. Rising above is an ornate, openwork reticulated trumpet, its pierced lattice decorated with perched birds and nesting motifs climbing all the way to the top.

Epergnes like these were a hallmark of Victorian tabletop and mantel display, prized for the way cast metal, marble, and glass came together in one dramatic, theatrical form. Doves and nesting birds were a favorite motif of the era, long associated with devotion, which makes a pair like this especially fitting for a wedding gift or an anniversary table.

Sold individually. Both pieces show excellent antique structure with a rich, authentic aged patina to the metal, and the marble bases remain intact with only minimal wear consistent with age. One original clear glass trumpet insert is included; the second is missing.

Tucked inside every set, a little something for first time Tavola customers — a hand-finished vintage passport notebook. Note the piece, the moment, the person you gave it to. One day these pieces will sit in someone else's hands — and they'll know it came from yours.
