Christopher Radko Glass Christmas Ornaments
An heirloom in the making, one ornament at a time.
The story of Christopher Radko begins with a tree that fell. In the mid-1980s, the Radko family's Christmas tree toppled and broke more than a thousand of their treasured mouth-blown European glass ornaments. When Christopher went looking for replacements, he found that mouth-blown glass ornaments had become next to impossible to find. A trip to his family's ancestral Poland changed that, and he returned home having commissioned new ornaments from Polish glassblowers in the nineteenth-century manner. He then went back to Poland to order more from antique molds and began showing them to department store buyers during his lunch breaks. A beloved holiday brand was born.
The craft behind each ornament is what collectors treasure. Each one begins as molten glass that is mouth-blown into a mold and silvered on the inside for a brilliant shine, then hand-painted and hand-glittered by skilled artisans. There are even specialists who paint only one detail, such as eyelashes, or the seeds on a piece of fruit. The result is a tradition of artistry you can see in the delicate detail, and hold in your hand.
Choose from multiple designs from the drop down below.
Only those pictured with a box comes with one.
Tucked inside every order, a little something for first time Tavola customers — a hand-finished vintage passport notebook. Note the piece, the moment, the person you gave it to. One day these pieces will sit in someone else's hands — and they'll know it came from yours.
