Herend Fishnet Porcelain Figurines
The fishnet that started with a rooster.
Herend's signature fishnet decoration dates to 1858, when a painter at the manufactory admired a fish-scale design on a Chinese porcelain plate and painted a similar pattern onto a rooster figurine to imitate feathers. The famous fishnet décor took form in 1858 when a Herend painter became inspired by a fishscale design he saw on a Chinese porcelain plate and painted a similar pattern onto a rooster figurine to imitate feathers.
The idea caught on, and it has since become the hallmark of Herend animals around the world. Every scale is painted by hand across the curves of the porcelain, so the pattern follows each animal's form and gives it a sense of movement that a printed design could never match.
Each figurine is made and painted by hand in Hungary and finished with touches of gilt. Beautiful on a bookshelf, a mantel, a coffee table, or gathered together as a collection.
Choose your figurine:
Loving Ducks (Rust Fishnet) — A pair of ducks nestled close together, their bodies covered in rust fishnet, with wings painted in cobalt, pink, and turquoise feathering and beaks finished in gleaming gold. A tender, colorful pair.
Hedgehog (Blue Fishnet) — A plump, round hedgehog covered in blue fishnet with pale gilt-touched quills at the face, sparkling eyes, and gold nose and feet. Small, friendly, and full of character.
Tucked inside every order, a little something for first time Tavola customers — a hand-finished vintage passport notebook. Note the piece, the moment, the person you gave it to. One day these pieces will sit in someone else's hands — and they'll know it came from yours.
