Johnson Brothers Friendly Village Butter Pats

$20.00

Four seasons of a small New England village, in the palm of your hand.

Each of these 4.25" butter pats carries a different scene from Friendly Village, the beloved Johnson Brothers pattern. The pattern was introduced in 1953 and produced in England for 50 years. Its scenes are a cozy tour of a New England village through the seasons, with a soft palette of black engraving brushed with touches of color. On the back of each piece, the scene name is printed with the backstamp, so you can see which village you’ve chosen. A full set of the pattern includes twelve dinner plate scenes, and the fun of collecting is finding the ones you love most.

Choose your scene:

  • The School House — a white schoolhouse with a red roof stands behind a fence and a stone wall, beneath an apple tree heavy with red fruit. 2 available

  • The Well — a springtime scene of pink blossoms, a stone well with its red bucket, and a red-roofed house just behind. 2 available

  • The Old Mill — a red clapboard mill reflected in a glassy pond, under the branches of old, spreading trees. 1 available

  • Sugar Maples — a snowy winter scene where sap buckets hang from the maples beside a red sugar house. 1 available

These petite butter pats are a lovely size for a pat of butter at a place setting, and they work just as well as coasters, tea bag rests, spoon rests, or ring and jewelry dishes on a vanity. They look charming propped on little plate stands in a row as a village in miniature, or tucked into a basket with a candle for a gift. A set of four, one of each scene, makes a lovely table for autumn and winter.
