These rare mid-19th century French faience plates were made by Louis Lebeuf & Montereau, one of the most celebrated names in French faience history. Louis-Martin Lebeuf purchased the Creil Montereau faience works in 1840 and directed production until his death in 1854, a period that produced some of the most sought-after transferware to come out of France. The emerald-turquoise ground here is exceptional — vivid, saturated, and rare to find in this condition — paired with finely detailed black transferware scenes and a garland floral border.
Two hunting scenes available. "Le Faisan" (The Pheasant) depicts a hunter and his dog in the field, a bird taking flight overhead. "Dispute de Chiens" (Dog Fight) captures two hunters and their dogs in a more animated moment. Both are 8" — perfect for a gallery wall collection or a moody dessert setup.
Scratches present, as noted in photos, consistent with antique age. Sold individually.
