Mitterteich Bavaria Green Leaves
A little forest, set on your table.
Green Leaves is a pattern with a quiet kind of elegance. Delicate sprays of leaves in soft green, with a few paler leaves floating behind them like a watercolor wash, grow from slender brown branches across creamy white porcelain. Each piece is framed by an embossed scroll rim with a scalloped edge and a fine line of gold, and the tureen is crowned with a sculptural gold knob finial and gold-accented handles. It’s the kind of tableware that makes a meal feel like a garden party.
Mitterteich is a Bavarian porcelain maker from the town of the same name, founded in 1887 by Ludwig Lindner. Over the 20th century, it grew into one of the many German factories known for graceful tableware, with floral and botanical patterns, scalloped rims, and delicate gold trim. The factory closed in 2006, and Green Leaves, a discontinued pattern, has become a favorite of those who love to collect botanical china and build a table slowly, one piece at a time.
Choose your piece:
Covered Tureen — a lidded, two-handled tureen with a gold knob finial, wonderful for soup, stew, mashed potatoes, or as a centerpiece on a buffet. 10” x 7” bottom to top of finial.
Large Oval Platter — an oval platter with a sweeping branch at its center and an embossed scroll rim, made for a roast, a whole fish, or a holiday spread 16” x 10.5”
Smaller Oval Platter — the same pattern in a more compact oval, perfect for sides, appetizers, or a cheese and fruit board 12” x 8”
Serving Bowl — a deep, scalloped bowl for salads, vegetables, or pasta. 9.5 x 2 “.
Each piece is lovely on its own, and together, they make a complete table. They also look beautiful displayed, with the platters propped on stands or the tureen at the center of a sideboard.
