A small surprise, meant to be discovered one hinge at a time.
Each of these vintage Limoges trinket boxes is entirely hand-painted and hinged within the Limoges region of France, home to a porcelain tradition dating back to the 18th century, when the discovery of kaolin clay nearby gave rise to a fine, luminous white porcelain prized across Europe. Every piece carries that same tradition of delicate brushwork and gilded detail.
Choose from five designs, each its own small scene in porcelain and gold:
Butterfly — a green, rose-spotted butterfly on a floral gilt base
Cat in a Box — a tuxedo cat peeking out of a striped container
Bichon with Butterfly — a curly-coated dog nose-to-wing with a butterfly, on a blue floral oval
Humpty Dumpty — seated on his wall in top hat and gilt trim
Dent de Lait Mouse — a hand-painted mouse and cherry motif, made for keeping a child's baby tooth, French tooth-fairy style
Tucked inside every set, a little something for first time Tavola customers — a hand-finished vintage passport notebook. Note the piece, the moment, the person you gave it to. One day these pieces will sit in someone else's hands — and they'll know it came from yours.
