Vintage Silverplate Engraved Salver Tray
The kind of piece that makes a bar cart look finished.
Piecrust Edge — 12", unmarked. The rim is shaped in a classic Chippendale-style piecrust edge, scalloped and wavy in the tradition borrowed from 18th-century silver design, the kind of detail that turns a functional tray into something worth leaving out. Unmarked, but the weight and finish speak for themselves.
Reticulated Edge — 14", marked Towle Silverplate. The rim is pierced in a reticulated gallery pattern and finished with a beaded outer edge, a technique that lightens the tray visually while catching the light along every cut. Marked on the base, a name tracing back to 1690 in Newbury, Massachusetts — one of the oldest continuously recognized names in American silver.
Piecrust Edge — 14.5” silverplate salver tray carries a finely engraved scrollwork and floral border, radiating outward from a clean open center left blank for whatever it's asked to hold — a decanter, a stack of coupes, a candle, or simply itself. The rim is shaped in a classic Chippendale-style piecrust edge, scalloped and wavy in the tradition borrowed from 18th-century silver design, the kind of detail that turns a functional tray into something worth leaving out.
Unmarked, but the weight and finish speak for themselves. Great condition, with signs of wear consistent with a piece that has clearly been used and loved.
Tucked inside every set, a little something for first time Tavola customers — a hand-finished vintage passport notebook. Note the piece, the moment, the person you gave it to. One day these pieces will sit in someone else's hands — and they'll know it came from yours.
